new houses for martin luther
2014 — 2016
The Luther Memorials Foundation in Saxony-Anhalt can look back on one and a half very eventful and formative decades; the architectural results are also impressive compared to international standards. Building on, thinking ahead. New Houses for Martin Luther documents the architectural and constructive commitment in the landscape of the Reformation. The pictures are an interim review aimed at taking a critical look at the complex field of action between the preservation of heritage and architecture, exhibitions and the teaching of history, regional development and tourism. Remembering is not a static, closed matter – the landscape of the Reformation and its perception will continue to be reproduced, condensed and changed by further images after the anniversary year. The new houses for Martin Luther are part of this process.
The documentation is made using a hybrid photographic process. The motifs are photographed with a plate camera on large-format black-and-white negatives, which are then scanned and digitalized.
